Never Take Your Healthy Teeth for Granted

About Me

Never Take Your Healthy Teeth for Granted

When I was growing up, my mother took my three brothers and I to the dentist for check-ups every six months, and while my brothers all tended to need cavity fillings after the exams, I didn't get a cavity for almost my entire childhood! That led me to start feeling like my teeth were "invincible," and once I moved out of my parents house, I started skipping my trips to the dentist. I soon regretted it, because I developed a toothache that put me through the worst pain of my life. I went to visit the dentist, and he told me that not only did I need a root canal, but I also had two additional cavities to fill! I have since dedicated myself to good oral hygiene, and I decided to start a blog to share my oral health tips and encourage others to take care of their teeth!

Making Your Teeth Whiter And Brighter

Many people enjoy the look of having white teeth in their mouth. Having stained or dirty-looking teeth is not something that is considered to be desirable, so many turn to whitening products in order to keep their teeth looking their best. There are some methods that can be used at home to help in whitening your teeth. Here are some ways that you can try on your own to help keep your teeth looking their whitest.

Using Fruits To Whiten

There are a few fruits that can be used to help whiten then teeth. Strawberries have whitening properties when used regularly as a polishing agent. Take a strawberry, mash it up until it is a gooey consistency, and apply to your teeth using a toothbrush or your finger. Keep it in place for a few minutes. The malic acid in strawberries will help to whiten them naturally.

The inside of banana peels and orange peels can be rubbed upon the teeth to help remove tartar. Tartar can cause your teeth to have a dingy appearance. The vitamins inside the peel area helps to whiten your teeth, as well.

Kitchen And Bathroom

There are a few products that can be used along with your regular brushing schedule to help keep your teeth white. Baking soda is found in most homes in the kitchen, to be used for baking. It can also be used on your toothbrush. Make a paste by mixing baking soda with a little water. Use it on your toothbrush along with regular toothpaste to brush away stained areas.

Hydrogen peroxide is another product that is in most homes. It is used to aid in the healing of cuts, but can also be used to help whiten the surface of teeth. Use it like a mouthwash a few times a week to help remove stains on the teeth.

Commercial Products

You can try buying an over-the-counter whitening product to see if it helps in removing surface stains from your teeth. These products come in different forms. You can use strips that are placed right on your teeth, gels that are placed inside trays to dip your teeth into, or toothpastes to brush upon your teeth. All whitening products carry the risk of damaging the enamel of your teeth, so be sure to follow package directions thoroughly. Do not use these products in excess, so that you do not suffer from tooth sensitivity. If you have any questions about tooth whitening, contact a cosmetic dentist near you.
