Never Take Your Healthy Teeth for Granted

About Me

Never Take Your Healthy Teeth for Granted

When I was growing up, my mother took my three brothers and I to the dentist for check-ups every six months, and while my brothers all tended to need cavity fillings after the exams, I didn't get a cavity for almost my entire childhood! That led me to start feeling like my teeth were "invincible," and once I moved out of my parents house, I started skipping my trips to the dentist. I soon regretted it, because I developed a toothache that put me through the worst pain of my life. I went to visit the dentist, and he told me that not only did I need a root canal, but I also had two additional cavities to fill! I have since dedicated myself to good oral hygiene, and I decided to start a blog to share my oral health tips and encourage others to take care of their teeth!

Six Aspects Of Dental Crowns That Could Make Them Ideal For Your Dental Issue

If you're experiencing a dental issue such as tooth decay, a dental crown might be the best solution for resolving the problem. The following are six aspects of dental crowns that could make them ideal for your dental issue.

Dental crowns can help you to save a natural tooth

When a tooth is showing signs of tooth decay, that doesn't necessarily mean that the tooth will have to be completely removed.

With a dental crown, the bottom of the tooth is saved and the top of the tooth is replaced. This makes a dental crown a good solution for saving as much as possible of the natural tooth.

Dental crowns can help correct many different cosmetic issues in teeth

A dental crown can restore a normal look to a severely damaged tooth. That makes dental crowns a good solution if a tooth is discolored or cracked due to decay. Dental crowns are sometimes chosen as a solution in cosmetic dentistry to make a tooth look white and healthy once again.

Dental crowns may last longer than many other options

Dental crowns are a relatively long-term solution to repairing damaged teeth. Although they might not last forever, they can often last longer than some other dental treatments including dental bonding and veneers.

Dental crowns can be an ideal solution for protecting a tooth after a root canal

One of the most common reasons why dental crowns are used to treat patients is because the top of the tooth needs to be replaced after a root canal.

If you're having a root canal, you should understand what the benefits of a dental crown are in your situation. Your dentist is likely to suggest a dental crown when you need a root canal.

Dental crowns can allow you to continue eating the foods you love

If you have a tooth with severe decay issues, you may be experiencing discomfort while eating. Discomfort may be so severe that you've had to restrict your diet as a result.

In this case, having a dental crown put in place can help to end discomfort so that you can once again enjoy eating your favorite foods.

Dental crowns can prevent a damaged tooth or dental problem from getting worse

A tooth that is severely cracked or discolored is likely to get worse if nothing is done to fix the problem. Dental crowns can often stop problems like cracks or chips in teeth from getting worse over time. This makes it so that dental crowns can be a way to restore a patient's dental health.
