Never Take Your Healthy Teeth for Granted

About Me

Never Take Your Healthy Teeth for Granted

When I was growing up, my mother took my three brothers and I to the dentist for check-ups every six months, and while my brothers all tended to need cavity fillings after the exams, I didn't get a cavity for almost my entire childhood! That led me to start feeling like my teeth were "invincible," and once I moved out of my parents house, I started skipping my trips to the dentist. I soon regretted it, because I developed a toothache that put me through the worst pain of my life. I went to visit the dentist, and he told me that not only did I need a root canal, but I also had two additional cavities to fill! I have since dedicated myself to good oral hygiene, and I decided to start a blog to share my oral health tips and encourage others to take care of their teeth!

What To Know About Visiting A General Dentist

There are many dental care providers out there, and depending on your needs, a specialist may be necessary. However, you will need general dental care before you head to a dental specialist. So, the first office you'll want to visit is that of a general dentist. A general dentist can address many of your dental issues and recommend you to a specialist if further care is needed.

Here's what to know about visiting a general dentistry practice.

What They Offer

When visiting this type of dentist, the first thing to know is what kind of care they offer. Your general dentist takes care of your overall oral health. Some services provided by this kind of dentist include dental cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns, gum care, bridges, and more. In addition, many general dentists also offer a range of cosmetic procedures, including dental veneers, teeth whitening, and dental bonding. The end goal of this type of dentistry is to ensure that you have healthy teeth and gums.

How Much Will It Cost

Another thing to consider when visiting a general dentist is how much your visit will cost. What you pay will depend on your needs and whether you have dental insurance. A standard office visit for a dental cleaning will set you back anywhere from $50 to $350. However, dental treatments, such as fillings or root canals, can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, depending on whether you have insurance coverage. Before scheduling an appointment, ask about pricing. If you have insurance, you will want to ensure your new dentist is in your network. If you don't have insurance, you will want to know how much your appointment will cost.

How Long It Will Take

Another thing to consider is how long your appointment with a general dentist will take. How long you will be at the dentist's office depends on whether you need to fill out paperwork and what dental services you require. Some appointments may take less than an hour, while others may take up much of your day. Before visiting a general dentist, ask about how long the appointment is expected to take.

There are a few things you need to know when visiting a general dentist. First, knowing what a dentist offers is vital. Second, consider how much your appointment will cost and whether a dentist is in your insurance network. Finally, make sure you know how long your visit is expected to last.
